PHOTO: Lightly frosted shredded wheat. I know what you're thinking. Why do you want to eat healthier but it looks like there is sugary frosting on your cereal? Well, honestly, I don't know. I only like the frosted shredded wheat. I assume it is better than cocoa puffs! Or reeces pieces... or pops... or count chocula... It hit me the other day that it is winter and those awesome winter pounds have appeared. Last year, I was getting lean and working out with a personal trainer. I ate mostly protein and sucked down protein shakes after a good workout. But after I moved to Oxford St -- I stopped. I no longer have my YMCA membership, and it is a raging blizzard outside 24/7, so running outside is out of the question. Before I know it, it will be springtime -- and you know what that means ladies (and men) -- BATHING SUIT SEASON. *gasp with fear and terror* So anyway, I didn't make losing weight a New Years Resolution. But I do want to be more healthy and hopefully a bit more trim. So, here's to knocking my coca-cola and sweets addiction and picking up more healthy snacks like apples...

...my God, I've been on a diet for seven straight weeks. Stayed within my caloric goals every day this week, but other than a bike ride or two did no exercise whatsoever. Also haven't been drinking my 8 glasses of water per day, either. My scale is old and crappy, so it's hard to see small changes. I can't tell if I lost any weight this week, but it's possible I lost a pound. I've discovered that the best way to reduce sodium is to replace food with booze. Seriously. I don't think it would be possible to stay under 2300 sodium without making literally all of one's food oneself, using nothing at all that was prepared or canned commercially. I got more than the minimum daily requirement for fiber ONCE. I got more than the minimum daily requirement for protein ONCE. At least my fat and carb intake is fine.
