Course Overview

The goal of the BCHS Purple Pride High School Band Program is to offer students a solid and well-rounded musical education in a setting that is safe, challenging, and enjoyable.
 
Students have the opportunity to explore a wide range of musical styles through participation in the Concert Band, Marching Band, and other small ensembles.
 

Ensembles

  • Concert Band The core of the BCHS band program is the Concert Band, made up of seventh through twelfth grade students. Students rehearse daily and present 3 Concerts. The first concert is usually held in the second week of December and its our Christmas Concert. The Christmas Concert consists of different variations of hymns and festive music including one of the band's favorite arrangements "How the Grinch Stole Christmas". Second Concert they preform is what is called a Recruitment Concert. This concert is when the beginner band and the Symphonic band preform for the soon to be seventh graders and soon to be eighth graders to try and persuade them to join band.   • Marching Band Each fall, band members are introduced to the fundamentals of marching band through participation in the BCHS Purple Pride Marching Band. The effect is stunning because they learn more and more each year. The Marching Band Preforms at all of the Bibb County High School Football games. And especially one of the most famous games here in Bibb County, Rumble on The River. Rumble on The River is the name we gave one special game against our rivals from the northern part of the county, The West Blocton Tigers.   • Beginner Band To become Part of the BCHS Purple Pride Band you must first go through Beginner Band. Beginner Band is offered at the middle school in your 7th or 8th grade year. To join beginner band you must first tryout with our band Director. When you try out you will be tried on every mouthpiece and be given choices on your 3 best.
