After school practice on Monday, 9/23 will be from 3:30-6:00 in preparation for Cavalcade.

Crimson Cavalcade of Bands is Tuesday, 9/24. (Tuesday will be a long day)
    o Students should bring everything they need to school that day.
    o Students are to remain at school when school dismisses at 3:05.
    o At the moment, we are scheduled to depart at 4:30 and the band performs at 8:15.

Meeting on April 23 2013

All band parents we will be having a parent meeting in the band room at 6:30 on April, 23 2013.
Please try to come to see what we are doing and to support your students and the BCHS Band Program.

Important Upcoming Dates and Information

  • kooCookie dough fundraiser order forms and money are due Thursday, April 18.
    • NO money or orders will be taken after this date.
    • Checks should be made payable to: Bibb County High School
  • The Spring Concert is Thursday, April 25. The concert will be held at the Board of Education Auditorium and will begin at 7:00pm. Student participation is MANDATORY!
  • This year's band banquet will be held Thursday, May 2. Time & Location are TBA.
  • A MANDATORY student/parent meeting will be held May 14 @ 6:30 for every student participating in band next year. Location TBA.
  • Band Camp will be held July 22 - 26 and July 29 - August 2.
    • Attendance at band camp is MANDATORY!
    • Camp will be held from 7:00am - 1:00pm.
    • Auxiliary and Percussion times may vary during those days
  • Band Fees next year will be $200 for returning members and $225 for those needing band shoes.
    • The band fees include music, travel, instructors, drill writing, band shirt.
    • This year the cost of a hoodie is included in the band fees. Everyone will be receiving the same hoodie this year.
    • A $50 payment will be due by May 21, 2013
    • A $100 payment will be due August 2, 2013
    • The remaining Band fee balance will be due on August 30, 2013.
A more detailed calender will be given out in the very near future. Please begin making plans and arrangements now.

Harlem Shake

Thursday. March 14, 2013

3:30 pm in the BCHS band room

We will be doing a Harlem Shake video after school on
Thursday, March 14, 2013. Student participation is not
required, but this is a chance for all students to have a
fun time outside of performing on instruments in band 

Students can bring costumes, props, or anything else
to help make the experience more fun for them. Fun
means school appropriate costumes/items and
appropriate dancing and actions during the video.
Students who do not adhere to this expectation will be
dealt with through appropriate disciplinary action with
the school administration.

After school lessons

Mr. Caddell will be available for after school lessons on
Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the BCHS band room
from 3:30 - 4:30 pm.

This is a great opportunity for students who would like
individualized attention. Students are able to get help
with skills they are having trouble with or they can
begin to learn new skills and techniques.

After school lessons are available to all band students.
Students must have transportation to be picked up at
the BCHS band room by 4:30.

Contact Mr. Caddell if your band student is interested
in having extra help.
Tentative Calendar of Upcoming Events

Drum Major Clinic/Auditions

April 2 - 4, 2013

Open to band students who will be in 10th - 12th grade next year. Clinic will be Tuesday and Wednesday, April 2nd and 3rd from 3:30 - 4:30.
The audition will be Thursday, April 4th beginning at 4:00.
Clinic/audition fee will be $25..

Percussion clinic
Percussion clinic is tentatively scheduled for April 8 - 11,
2013 from 3:30 - 4:30 pm in the BCHS band room. This
clinic is required of all percussionists who plan to participate
in marching band for the 2013 football season. Clinic fee
will be $20.

Spring Concert

The CMS/BCHS band program Spring Concert will be held on
Thursday, April 25, 2013 at 7:00 pm. location is TBA.


Congratulations to the students who participated in the
ABA District V Music Performance Assessment. The
band had a great performance and represented
BCHS/CMS well.

Home Practice

The Bibb County High School Band prides itself on the tradition of musical excellence. Over the years the members of the various band ensembles have worked hard to continue to develop their individual level of musicianship. In doing so, their combined efforts have yielded many fine performances and musical memories.

We all realize that the band plays a different role in each of the students' lives. Regardless of priority, the quality of the BCHS Band is reflected through the total output of all members. Our band is like a team, a family, a puzzle and we need each and every member to contribute to their fullest potential. One of the most important aspects to successful band participation is the element of home practice. By taking a few minutes each and every night, students can reinforce the musical material learned in the  day's rehearsal. This is also true when talking about all school and home work.

Please take a moment to visit with your band student about this important aspect of their band participation.

The BCHS Band is looking to forward momentum towards achieving excellence. Let your student know that you are proud of their work and that you support their effort.
MPA Performance

The Bibb County High School Band will participate in the Music Performance Assessment (MPA) at The University of Alabama. Even though a concrete date and time have not been determined, the BCHS band will most likely perform Wednesday morning/midday, February 20, 2013. Thursday is also a possibility depending on the schedule.

The band will tentatively leave the school around 9:00 am, perform, eat lunch at University Mall, and then return to school.

MPA is a time for the band students and director to receive feedback on areas such as: tone, tempo, rhythms,intonation, technique and overall musicianship. Even though MPA is not a competition, the band does receive scores that indicate how well they are mastering the above listed skills.

This rehearsal schedule was given to the band students last week.

All students are expected to attend the stated rehearsals.

Written notice must be given to Mr. Caddell in advance if a student can absolutely not attend a rehearsal.

Excessive absences from rehearsals and poor behavior in class can result in a student not participating with the band at MPA.

Color Guard Clinic

Ok this is the First post in a while but I'm here to tell you about Guard Clinic after-school this week from 3:30 to 5:30. Tryouts will be on Friday February, 8. Good luck to all those who are trying out.
