Spring 2009 - We will be raising money in conjunction with SGA via a benefit on April 23rd - the Invisible Children Benefit Event.  The money will go to the Invisible Children organization to help free captive child soldiers in Uganda.  Remember, we need volunteers for the benefit and donations to sell on our ebay site.  Thanks everyone!

March 13 - Wow oh wow - did you guys bring in loads of great toiletries!!  We loaded up40 individual baggies with toiletries (shampoo, tooth bruses, tooth paste, conditioner, razors, soap, lotions...more) and toilet paper so the shelter employees could give these to clients in need as they depart the shelter.  We had a late delivery on Friday, so we'll have even more to bag up for next week, too!  God is good.  On Friday, March 14, Miss Salli, Anthony and Mrs. R took the goodies over to the homeless shelter; Miss Alberta and Miss Donna were greatful as usual.  As we chatted with them about products we could provide for them over the remaining weeks in the term, Miss Alberta said she was always so low on powdered milk and powdered potatoes.  So, when our big-hearted Anthony told Miss Alberta he'd go get some after we were done for the day, Miss Salli had a bright idea!  The three of us piled back in my trusty Element...zoom, zoom...and headed down to the Save-a-Lot where we purchased a case of powdered milk, a case of powdered potatoes and some much needed spices for Miss Alberta's kitchen.  When we showed up again at the shelter a half hour later, they were so surprised!  Ta da - Jesus loves ya - yeah, he does!   Thanks to everyone who contributed to the mountain of wonderful toiltries for this week!

March 6, 2008 - At this week's meeting, members brought laundry products - soap, fabric softeners, dryer sheets, bleach and more for the shelter.  On Friday, March 7th, Anthony, Tina and Darrian delivered the club's donations to Jeffy at the shelter.  Thanks, everyone!  That will go a long way to wash the bedding cleaned each day at the shelter.  Bridges members...being Jesus right here in Titusville!   =)
More news from the 3/6/08 mtg:Bridges decided weeks ago to'tithe' on our tolls (the money we collect at each meeting via donations) at least once a month or so.  So, this week, Bridges treasurer, Erica M., advised we had about $147 in our treasury.  So, after discussion, the club donated/tithed $15 to the child overseas that our provost Linda Miedema already supports monthly.  She has promised to send our donation along with her monthly check to the family.   She will share updates and pictures with the club as we join she and her family in supporting this family in Nicaragua.  Thanks, Bridges!

February 28th meeting #6 - We collected packages of paper cups, napkins, paper towels and hundreds of paper plates to take the the Salvation Army Shelter on Friday.  Friday, February 29 - the tour at the shelter was very productive.  A team of Tim H., Pat B., Anthony B., Erica M., Kathren C. and Rhonda R. visited with Major Jack Owens and social worker, "Kathy," at the shelter for quite a while.  In addition to a tour of the facility, Major Owens discussed with us the shelters needs and how they manage with funding they receive.  They were very gracious.  Miss Alberta and Donna, the wonderful shelter angels, received our gifts gladly.  Our club also gave the shelterthree $10 gift cards for Winn Dixie to buy items they might need.  Jeffy, the shelter's full-time Salvation Army Soldier, gave the group a descriptive tour around the facilty.  Areas of great need:  the women's bathroom, paint for many interior walls of the shelter, prayer.

Fifteen Fridays

January 29, 2008

We have 15 Fridays left in this term.  What could we do on 15 Fridays to make a difference? Some will say "you can't do it; your club is too new."  Others might say, "That's too much time to ask; we can't possibly do things on 15 Fridays."  Others will say - "YES! Let's be Jesus right here, right now."

What will you say?

Whose life could be CHANGED
by these 15 Fridays?

What are we going to do to serve our community and make a difference
this very term

Shoe drive?
Feed the homeless?
Blood drive?
What has God put on your heart?  You might be the ONE who has just the project God wants us to do for 15 Fridays.

Can we do it?

Pray about it.   Let's talk about it.
This could be exciting, guys!

For encouragement - just how much does God love you?  Watch this youtube video and be reminded!
