Time Line Project

Time Line Project

Your task is to research your own life from the year you were born up to the present.  You should gather important information about you, specifically, for each year of your life.  You will also need to find significant events that happened in the United States or the world for each specific year that you have been living.

As yourself these questions:

1.      What would you like to learn about yourself?

2.     What events were happening in the United States and the world as you were growing up?

Discuss and explore your development within your family.  Talk to our parents, grandparents, caregivers and anyone else that could help you learn more information about specific events that shaped your life.  Also, explore significant events that occurred during your lifetime.  Look at the town you grew up in, the state of Illinois, and the United States as well as the entire world.  Choose significant events such as who was president, who won the Super Bowl, political events, and such.

This information will be put into a timeline in chronological order, with significant events detailed in order on the timeline.  You may add graphics as appropriate.  Your project needs to be thoughtful, creative, colorful, and neat.  Take your time and have some fun with this project.  You may talk to people, research in Almanacs, encyclopedias, and the internet to search for information.

In addition to your personal timeline, there are two more parts to this project.

a.        Collaborate with other students on a timeline of your choice  -   You choose the topic and collaborate on at least two other time lines with others in the class.   Topics can be sports, technology, music, cars, politics, …  Don’t see a topic you like?  Set up your own and let others join you!  Bonus points are given to students who excel at organizing the timelines and content.

b.       Research one topic in detail.  Take the information form one of these timelines and research it in detail.  Write a 3 – 5 page research paper on this topic.  See grading rubric for content and criteria.

Scoring rubrics:  * 5 points per day will be deducted for late projects.
