May 2018 Bond Issue

A Unique Opportunity… For Desperately Needed Changes… For Generations to Come!

The Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District is seeking voter approval of a bond issue on May 8, 2018, that will fund:

  • the construction of one, Pre-K thru 5 facility that will serve all elementary students in the district
  • necessary upgrades to the safety and security of the existing middle school and high school

The district is viewing this request as a Unique Opportunity… for Desperately Needed Upgrades… for Generations to Come!

Passing a bond issue at this time is a unique opportunity because the district can ask for the same, or a reduced millage, amount they have been paying on the bond that was issued to finance the High School construction (in 1996), capitalizing on low millage rates in our community.

The proposed location of the consolidated Pre-K thru 5 building is at the Blossom Hill location on Oakes Road, in Brecksville. The opportunity to build at Blossom Hill comes as a result of the innovative collaboration with the City of Brecksville, who proposed a transfer of land-- the Blossom Hill location on Oakes Road in exchange for school owned property on Stadium Drive and Central School.

Despite the impeccable curb appeal, the four elementary buildings in our district are aged, outdated, and feature a variety of much-needed capital infrastructure improvements that are beyond the routine scope of repair. Take a look at the existing conditions in the video below, featuring school district Superintendent, Joelle Magyar.
