Current and Upcoming

Developing and Executing Plans that will let us get on with Giving for 2020-2021 and beyond!

  • BBEF Annual Meeting March 8, 2021  This is our chance to  celebrate our Giving Projects for 2020, which were largely intact in spite of difficulties caused by the pandemic.  We also look forward to approving our next round of educational projects and financially enabling educators in our area.  If any changes to Bylaws are presented, they will be approved (or not)  via electronic voting!
  • Since our Spring Tea fundraiser was cancelled, the Beta Beta Chapter of DKG International has donated $1180 from the sale of "Take Out" Lasagna dinners, sold to members and friends, and prepared by an amazing team of volunteer cooks.  Meals were picked up to be enjoyed at each person's home, instead of their usual December feast together.
  • We put on a Virtual Auction, netting over $7000 to keep providing funding for our Dictionary project and Financial Aid program.
  • We carried out plans for a Covid-safe Garage Sale that netted over $4000 to support our giving projects
  • Looked at plans for a very different type of Fall Auction - we kept the ball rolling in spite of the this virus.
  • Our Annual Lasagna Dinner was a fundraiser this year, with orders for our famous Lasagna and super-rich cheesy French bread being sold, and distributed.  All profits benefitted the foundation.

Pandemic Support

Beta Beta’s Community Response to the Pandemic

Many of our members are supporting our continuing message - “We care!”. We encourage any donations to help us help other others.

  • Chapter officers are creatively planning ways that our fundraising will continue in new formats so we can continue supporting educators and students in our area.

  • One member supplied over 175 face masks to Bethlehem House of Bread, Just Compassion, Good Neighbor Center and others.

  • This same member teams with CERT and Tigard City Hall to make masks for First Responders.

  • A team of EIGHT members are providing meals for Just Compassion Resource Center.

  • A team of THREE members are CASA  (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteers, and are spending time with CASA families, although not in the manner as before the virus.

  • Several members are providing leadership support to their religious organizations to help support new ways of “doing church”.

  • THREE members along with their spouses and families are doing food packaging, sorting and distribution with Bethlehem House of Bread.
