Welcome to the home of San Francisco Bay Area Challengers Baseball.

Challenger Baseball is a division of Little League Baseball focused toward accommodating special needs children.  Although not all leagues in the San Francisco Bay area have a separate Challenger Division, many do.  The Bay Area Challengers is an organization of managers from the individual teams with the charter to promote inter-league play.  In general there are 10 games scheduled for each team from late March to June, and each team has an approximately equal number of home and away games.  The away games are played in fields from San Jose to San Francisco.

Challenger Division of Little League

The Challenger Division offers boys and girls with physical and mental challenges, ages 5 to 18 (or the completion of high school), the opportunity to participate in an organized game of baseball program. The most fundamental goal of the Challenger Division is to give everyone a chance to play.

The Challenger Division was established in 1989 as a separate division of Little League Baseball to enable boys and girls with physical and mental disabilities, ages 5-18 or the completion of high school, to enjoy the game of baseball along with the millions of other children who participate in this sport worldwide.

In general the teams are set up according to locality.  There is often a breadth of abilities on each team, and all abilities are accommodated and welcomed.

Each player gets a chance at bat and depending on ability can hit off a tee or will have a coach pitch. The side is retired when the offense has batted through the roster  No score is kept during games. The Challenger players wear the same uniforms, shoulder patches and safety equipment as other Little League players.
