About

Purpose

The Bay Area Baptist Association
exists to assist churches to equip, encourage, and engage their members in making, maturing, and mobilizing Christian disciples which we understand to include the promotion of missions, evangelism, discipleship training, stewardship, and harmonious fellowship.. The BABA consists of 12 congregations in 11 mid-Michigan counties and stands ready and willing to partner with churches to assist them as they seek to fulfill the Great Commission.

Dr. David Roberts is the Associational Missionary of the BABA. He has been serving in this position since the fall of 2014. He serves as a church strengthener, which involves being a pastor to the pastors of the churches in our association, listening, keeping confidences and encouraging the churches. He also helps churches to identify areas where new ministry can be done and new churches could be planted. He suggests resources and helps train leadership for church plants, trains churches in evangelism and outreach and is available to assist churches in their evangelistic events.

Dr. Roberts is a contributor to The Popular Encyclopedia of Church History edited by Drs. Ed Hindson and Dan Mitchell - articles on the Gideons, John Gill, and John Owen.  His Doctoral Dissertation is on A Directed Content Analysis of the Leadership of Jesus Among His Twelve Disciples Using the Framework of the Situational Leadership Model - a study whether Situational Leadership was reflected in the leadership of Jesus among His disciples.
