Despite popular belief, platformers aren't as simple as setting the gravity and making a bunch of baddies. It's more of a thought process. How do I make this game interesting? How can I add more variety into this title? What will make this game stand out from the rest? It's these questions that make development for 2D platformers as challenging as developing for any other genre of video games. And thus I have come up with the finalization of several features for Mr. Square in Square World:
- there will be a total of 26 stages (33 if you include boss fights) spanning across 7 different worlds.
- each world will be themed, and all of them will have a specific name.
- all worlds will consist of 3 main stages, 1 fortress stage, and one boss stage, with the exception of World 7.
- World 7 will consist of 1 long main stage, 1 long fortress stage, and 1 final boss stage.
- there will be a save/load system implemented directly into the game.
Thanks for keeping in touch with Mr. Square in Square World. Development will be completed sometime in 2012.
As a bonus, here's a development screenshot one of the levels in the game:
Just a very quick update here on Mr. Square in Square World. The game is 60% complete, and will definitely be coming out in 2012.
With the hustle and bustle of school, work has slowed down a bit for Mr. Square in Square World, but don't worry. The game is nearly halfway complete, and an updated demo is to be released by the end of the year. Expect the game to be released some time in 2012.
We've also seen through StatCounter that traffic for the site has been picking up in the past month. Most of you guys are probably from IGN or GoNintendo, in which case go ahead and follow or friends me!
We've also announced the return of the "Listen to MP3" section of the site. The music links have been down for some time, but thanks to SoundCloud, they're back up and running. We've even added a new soundtrack to boot.
Thanks for following Battlestriker123! As promised, new demo, artwork, and screenshots for Mr. Square in Square World coming soon!
We have a few small announcements to make today:
First off, we have decided to hit Mr. Square in Square World with a delay. Such a game will take longer than expected to complete, as we plan to expand the game from 6 worlds to 8-10 worlds.
We also plan on expanding Project Monster. The game will be placed behind all other games and will be released in 2014-2015.
If you haven't noticed, we weren't able to carry out the screenshot last week for you guys, even though we told you we would. To that, we are deeply sorry. But we did not do this on purpose, of course. We had a major computer breakdown, and were unable to work for at least 5 days.
We that comes other news. Older computers that were able to play HODBM and the Mr. Square demo may not be able to play the final version of MSISW. There is little we can do about this (as this was one of the reasons of the computer breakdown), so to this, we also deeply apologize.
We promise to bring you the new screenshots very soon, as we get back to work this Thursday.
You wanna know what I really feel about gaming? Click here to find out! On my IGN blog I will be posting what I feel about the gaming world (mostly Nintendo-related) and review games, though my reviews are probably only going to be 3DS games (no one even looks at old DS and PS2 reviews anymore anyways). So if you have nothing better to do, drop on by, and maybe you can even say hello!
A new Mr. Square screenshot is coming by soon, so check back later this week!
Head on over to yoyogames.com to download the latest version of Hit O Drum Bowser Mix! Version 1.1 fixes several major bugs, which are mentioned in the updated game's info screen. Download Version 1.1 now!
In case you're interested in how we got started, take a look at our new "History" page under the "About Us" section in the sidebar. It's not much, but hopefully the list of dates will later grow. Not much has really been happening, as we're focused on bring you "Mr. Square in Square World" on time, but just because we aren't posting updates doesn't mean we aren't working hard! As always, we are always posting new screenshots for the game.
It has also come to our attention that Space Diamonds is no longer available for download. We are looking into this and hope to fix it soon.
We have opened a photo gallery on the Mr. Square page with two new screenshots, and more on the way. We are going to start trying to regularly put out new pictures for you to see. As with the actual game, we are currently working feverishly in order to complete this by the end of the year. As always, stay tuned for future updates.
There hasn't really been an update in quite a while, so it's time about time for one. Originally, this update was supposed to include more screens of Mr. Square, but that's not going to be done until a few weeks. So instead, let me turn your attention to Monster Hunter, an old project that now needs a name change (because of the obviously popular console games with the same name). The game will now be referred to as "Project Monster" to avoid confusion. Also, the game for 2013 is being planned at the moment, with more info to come.
Stay tuned for the next update, with more Mr. Square screens and info on both Project Monster and the game for 2013!
