Batley Photographic Society was originally founded in 1897 and was one of twelve founder members of the Yorkshire Photography Union (YPU). Membership now numbers over 60 clubs.
Reformed as Batley & District Camera Club in 1952, after the Second World War, Batley Camera Club members were leaders in the production of fine black & white photographs from their earliest days and later, in the 1950s, embraced the new technology of colour printing and colour transparencies.
Once again Batley has evolved and joined the digital revolution and is now equipped with a full digital darkroom.

New Members & Visitors

Do you want to learn how to use your digital camera or manipulate images using Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom, or are you an experienced photographer that would like to join like-minded enthusiasts in a stimulating environment, if so come along and see what we have to offer.

We are a growing enthusiastic club of approximately 35 members and have a varied programme of events to suit everyone no matter what branch of photography you are interested in. See our Syllabus page.

Most of our members have 'gone digital' but there are still a wealth of knowledge in the club on film processing
and printing.

Our meetings are held at St Andrew's Church Hall, Dennison Street, Purlwell, Batley WF17 7QQ
(above Fox's Biscuits and the mosque, near Mount Pleasant Rugby Ground) every Tuesday evening from
September to May. (See Syllabus for exact dates).

There is no obligation to join immediately, pay a visitors fee of £1 a night for your first three visits and then decide.

The season's programme includes amongst other things:

• How to use your digital camera - by one of our own members
• How to manipulate images using Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom - by one of our own members
• Studio Nights - using models and studio lights provided by the club
• Lectures by national/internally famous photographers showing projected images, prints and audio visual shows
• Inter Club competitions and competitions for members of our own club
• Practical tuition and demonstration nights

We look forward to meeting you.
