Screed Machine
Screed Machine
The screed machine shown here is used to automatically finish off the surface of the deck concrete. This machine rides on rails that are set according to the profile of the roadway along the deck. As the machine runs transversely along the bridge it will also build a cross slope in to the deck so it will drain water properly. The screed rail for this side of the bridge is placed in the area where a sidewalk will be located. Because there are bars that stick up where the toe of the sidewalk will be located the machine cannot be used here. The area under the sidewalk will be finished the old fashion way, by hand. The surface in this area is not critical since there will be sidewalk concrete cast on top.
