Teen Feed Meal Team Description
Meal teams are essentially the hands of our work for homeless youth. It is recommended that each team consist of 5 to 12 people who, as a team, help find donated food or purchase all the ingredients needed to plan and cook a nutritious dinner for 50 to 70 youth. It is the food teams responsibility to create a meal, gather all food needed for the meal, serve the meal and clean up the kitchen (talk with the teen feed coordinator, he may be able to gather some of your ingredients).
Teen Feed’s doors open at 7:00P seven nights a week and we close them at 8:00P. The Teen Feed Coordinator will open the church kitchen for your team at whatever time you think would be appropriate. Remember to notify the coordinator when you would like to be let in the kitchen. We prefer to meet at 5:15P and our SNA Teen Feed coordinators need to let Teen Feed folks know this.
The Teen Feed sites have everything necessary for preparing a typical meal—ovens and ranges; refrigerators; plates, cups, napkins and silverware; pots and pans; and so on. There is also an industrial dishwasher, bus tubs, bleach and dish soap at each site for the clean-up. The youth are required to bus their own dishes. Any leftovers can go to the ROOTS Young Adult Shelter at University Temple United Methodist Church.
