The Be Clear On Cancer Oesophago-Gastric cancers campaign, previously piloted in NE England, ran as a national campaign in England from 26th January until 22nd February 2015.
Publicity leaflets may be downloaded from the bottom of this page.
You may view the television advertisement below.
How Barrett's Wessex complemented the campaign.
Prior to the campaign and revived on February 4th (World Cancer Day), we initiated the Point To Your Oesophagus Facebook campaign.
(Chairman, Chris Robinson, right, says "here's mine, where's yours?")
Drop ins were held at Ferndown on 3rd and Swaythling on 4th February.
(BCOC had local roadshows at Portsmouth on 4th & 5th and Havant on 6th & 7th. Due to our previously arranged engagements, we were unable to directly support these events.)
On Wednesday 7th boxer Merv Langdale was to have promoted us at a boxing tournament. Unfortunately due to injury he was unable to participate and this has been rescheduled for Saturday 9th May at Epsom racecourse.
Wednesday 11th: Southampton football club match vs West Ham. The BCOC TV advert was shown prior to the match. The match programme included the BW branded BCOC poster and a page about BW. We also handed out leaflets, and collected donations, before the match. (All other football matches where BCOC was mentioned are "up north".)
Sunday 22nd: BCOC month culminated with a gala concert by the OperaBabes at Turner Sims.
Saturday 14th March: Scoping Super Saturday at Southampton General Hospital. 72 people referred from the BCOC campaign were scoped that day. BW distributed information leaflets and manned an information stand to support those newly diagnosed and anyone else with questions.
See our diary page to keep up to date with our events.
Action Against Heartburn also produced a radio advertisement that was aired on Birmingham Free Radio.
