February is Oesophagus Awareness month in UK.   #OAware

Calling it Oesophebruary, one of the foci for 2019 is the use of our Facebook and Twitter accounts to post a revelation a day for the 28 days. The 28 Oesophebruary revelations may viewed or downloaded here or at the foot of this page.

In 2017, 20 buses toured Southampton streets for 8 weeks bearing this advertisement on their backs:

Based on the number of people the advertising company expected to engage with the adverts and doing some maths with the population and mortality figures (from ONS and CRUK respectively), we calculated 19 people reacting to these adverts could die from oesophageal cancer in 2017.
The campaign ran twice as long as originally planned (presumably as advert space remained unsold).

The message and colours matched those of the fliers produced by Action Against Heartburn, BW versions of which may be downloaded below plus a poster designed to match the bus adverts.

               AAH Patient flyer

N.B. If you wish to download and print your own, these images show the files printed on intense yellow paper as originally intended, though they will work on plain white paper.
The Patient Flyer is a DL size roll folded 6 page leaflet.
The pharmacy flyers are double sided printed 6 to a sheet of A4 to be guillotined to 14.85 x 7 cm size.

We can provide laminated copies of the 2017 poster if you have anywhere to display them - perhaps community boards, libraries, community centres, surgeries etc.

We can provide copies of the patient flyers and pharmacy flyers if you are able to persuade anyone to take them - health centres, surgeries, pharmacies, libraries.
The small pharmacy flyers are provided so pharmacists can drop them into the bags of medicines when people collect or buy acid suppressants and antacids.
