Our venue was refurbished and re-opens on 26 March 2018. During renovations, our sound equipment was damaged due to a burst pipe at the storage facility, and a fundraiser was presented on 21 March 2018. A huge THANK YOU to all the munsicians who freely gave of their time and talent to raise funds, to everyone who attended and to the special people who made donations towards new equipment. We sincerely appreciate your efforts!

Many of you will be aware of the amazing team that run the Barleycorn. Perhaps one of the most amazing is Dr. Ian Bell, our treasurer, who was a founding member in 1975 and has been managing the accounts virtually since the club began. He now needs a break and has decided to stand down and we thank him on the club's behalf for the amazing work he has done over the years. One of his many claims to fame is that, in association with Ian Davidson, he started started the annual Songwriters' Competition, now in its 23rd year and one of the most prestigious events in the Barleycorn calendar. Ian will be sorely missed but we are sure he will visit the club as often as possible to enjoy some of the music that has been part of his life for so may years.

The finals were held on 21 August and the competition was won by Sarah Wannenburg. Thanks to all entrants, finalists, our wonderful judges and, of course, our sponsors! Sarah's winning track was recorded by Mafred Klose of Stone Jets and we are hoping to post a link to it soon.
