Our mission is to have Major League Baseball ban the use of all smokeless tobacco products by its players, coaches and staff during baseball games, and during MLB sanctioned public appearances.
Why Ban Smokeless Tobacco in Baseball?
Smokeless tobacco has been linked to oral and throat cancer, leukoplakia, receding gums, gum disease, cardiovascular disease and numerous other health problems.
Smokeless tobacco contains 28 known carcinogens and over 3000 chemicals.
High school baseball players are much more likely (10 times more likely) to use smokeless tobacco than the average teenager. The use of smokeless tobacco increases as these players advance to college.
Additionally, young baseball players are less likely to use smokeless tobacco if their role models and peers do not use the product.
