National Flood Conference
October 15th 2016
To whom it concerns
Irish National Flood Forum (INFF) is hosting the National Flood Conference in Gullanes Hotel, Ballinasloe on Saturday October 15th 2016. It’s been a few years since the last national conference and with the increase in the frequency of flooding in recent years it is important that we renew our efforts to host this event.
Conferences of this nature are a vital tool in communicating with all the stakeholders of the progress made by the OPW and other state/voluntary agencies in flood alleviation measures. Keynote Speakers on the day include the following:
· Minister Sean Canney OPW
· Paul Cobbing- CEO of National Flood Forum UK
· Mark Adamson OPW
· Liesbeth Van Paap- Director of Rijkswaterstat in Holland
· Monica Lee- Principal Geologist GIS
We are delighted to have a very distinguished line up of speakers who will no doubt update our knowledge in each of their specialist areas. The conference is scheduled to start at 10am and will be chaired by Jack Murray ofMediahq.com
Ballinasloe is on the motorway and is a town that has had repeated serious flooding in 2009 and 2015 and has also seen the benefit of investment in flood protection measures in some parts of the town. There is ample free car parking to the rear of Gullane’s Hotel.
We sincerely hope that will be able to attend. Your presence will add much to what we expect to be a very worthwhile and informative conference.
Please forward the brochure to any relevant people in your community that may benefit from attending.
