SATI - Baltimore

Sati- Baltimore is the Pali word for awareness or mindfulness. Sati- Baltimore's mission is to bring compassionate, engaged mindfulness practice in action to the larger Baltimore Metropolitan area. Currently,  Sati facilitates the Baltimore Insight Meditation groups, a non-sectarian sitting meditation group that meets on the 1 st and 3rd Sundays of the Month from noon to 1 p.m. at One Wisdom Fellowship, 500 E. 39th Street, (at the corner of Greenmount Ave. (York Rd.) and 39th St.), Baltimore, MD 21218 , and the 1st and 3rd Wednesday evenings of the month at 7pm and 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month at 7 pm at the Universalus Community, 2-B Oakway Road, Timonium, MD. 21093. While Insight Meditation is based on Buddhist practices over the past 2500 years, one is not required to adhere to Buddhist beliefs to practice Insight Meditation. 
 
A Pema Chodron monthly study group the 4th Sunday of the month at 5 pm at the Universalus Community.

Sati also offers fee-based trainings, workshops and retreats. Some of the events offered throughout the year are:

A day long meditation and teaching retreat on the Buddhist Lojong practice; 56 slogans to assist in focusing the mind in skillful ways.
 
Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) trainings one night a week for 10 consecutive weeks focusing on the mindfulness stress reduction meditation techniques of Jon Kabat-Zinn.

A 3-hour training on Thich Nhat Hanh’s 14 principles of Interbeing

Other trainings and meditation events are planned as requested.

Future Sati projects: Sati-Baltimore Contemplative Care. A non-medical contemplative end-of-life volunteer service program providing trained volunteers to fully be with those in their homes, nursing homes, or hospitals who are facing the end-of-life stages.
 
Sati-Baltimore Food Pantry, providing non-perishable foods and bread to those in need in the Baltimore Metropolitan area.
