Our Pastor

Pastor SteveRev. Stephen L. Woolverton

Pastor Steve was called into ministry while serving on active duty as an acting Public Affairs Officer with the Navy in 2007 in Naples, Italy.

He was initially licensed as a pastor with the United Methodist Church in 2010 before becoming ordained with the World Council of Independent Christian Churches in 2016. He is currently transferring his ordination into the Free Methodist Church.

While Pastor Steve holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication and a Master’s Degree in Human Relations, after his calling into ministry he went on to complete his Master’s Degree in Divinity at Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.
It was also during this time that he served as Senior Pastor for three different Methodist churches on the Eastern Shore over from 2010 to 2016. Later he served as associate pastor for the New Life Christian Church for almost two years.

Outside of the work Pastor Steve does at Baltimore First, he is a full-time teacher for the Department of Defense at their communication school on Fort Meade. In this role he teaches communications, public relations, journalism, basic and advanced photography, media relations, and crisis communication.

He sees his role there, teaching active-duty and reserve service members, as another part of his ministry as he often provides council, leads Bible studies, and provides invocations for military graduation ceremonies.

Additionally, Pastor Steve serves on the board for the Paris Reidhead Bible Teaching Ministries (BTMI), a ministry that provides Bibles, evangelism materials, and Biblical teaching to people and groups around the world, which was begun, and is founded on, the the missionary and preaching work of the late Paris Reidhead. In addition to his service on the board, he assists with the promulgation of commentaries and ministry materials through their Facebook page.

Pastor Steve often cites the whole of the Bible as being his favorite verse, however Psalm 40 has held a special place in his heart. He says he can feel the words of David as if they were his own words.

When God first called Pastor Steve into ministry, it was with this specific message. God’s direction to him was simple: Tell my people that I love them.

Since then, Pastor Steve has continued to serve God, to share this message, and to seek out where and how God want him to deliver this message.

I waited patiently for the Lord;
And He inclined to me, And heard my cry.
He also brought me up out of a horrible pit,
Out of the miry clay,

And established my steps.
And set my feet upon a rock,
He has put a new song in my mouth
Praise to our God;
Many will see it and fear, And will trust in the Lord.
