7. Teacher Training/Certification

Why add Teacher Certification by the CCA to your resume?
  • Teacher Certification in the Cecchetti Council of America's (CCA) graded syllabus has long been the hallmark of excellence in ballet pedagogy.
  • The syllabus is based upon materials developed by Enrico Cecchetti, who worked with Anna Pavlova and Vaslav Nijinsky to further perfect (!) their already extraordinary technique and style.
  • Today, the Cecchetti Method forms the basis of American Ballet Theatre's syllabus at the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis School and at the ABT Professional Teacher Training Program.
  • Round out your knowledge of ballet -- ballet technique, anatomy for the dancer, music for ballet class, ballet history.
  • Strengthen your teaching skills.
  • Work individually and intensively with an experienced teacher of ballet teachers.
  • Become part of a highly-respected network of ballet teachers worldwide.
Coaching toward CCA Teacher Exams is available at The Ballet Studio, for high-school-age dancers through adults.   Director, Barbara Gaskill (FCCA), is certified by the CCA through the Advanced Professional Level, and is approved for coaching of teachers and prospective teachers in the exam work.
  • High-school-age ballet students enrolled at other studios may begin coaching toward CCA Teacher Exams at The Ballet Studio while still training as students, as a supplement to the classes at their primary studio.  Take the exams, or strengthen understanding and technique through syllabus work.
  • Adults and college-age students with strong ballet background may coach toward CCA Teacher Exams, and take the exams.
