The propane heater we usually use this time of year on the cook deck pooped out last night. As we were sitting around grumbling, a friend drove up and pulled this little beauty out of the back of his truck along with a box of oak chunks. We ran it without any more of a smoke stack than the little winged collar. We got it going red hot and it did a good job of taking the chill out of the North Florida night air. The little pot bellied stove was originally the heater for a railroad caboose.

Hottentot is the name of an Indian Tribe back east and this stove was named after them as stoves are "hot." I doubt it was meant as an insult.
