Carpet Snake that tried to eat our kitten!
Carpet Snake that tried to eat our kitten!
Woke up this morning to my my dog Barking and the sound of a kitten being crushed!. We rushed out side to see what the commotion was and found a 2.5 mtr python wrapping itself around our kitten... Managed to wrestle its coils off her but it was holding on to her with its teeth... very sharp snake teeth that point inwards ... We were not sure how to make it let go and we didnt want to harm the snake either... So we tried Ice cubes on it's head to no avail... in the end we held the snakes head firmly and shook its body... not so hard... but enough to upset him... it did work and eventually it let go of Lola.... we took the snake far away from the house.... and Lola ( the kitten) is now licking her wounds and the snake is probably tired and upset he didn' t get his dinner...OH and i found a snake tooth in Lola after too.. when i get my macro lense i will try and photograph it.... post script.... Snakey had a 2nd go at LOla and she was rescued again. this time she got a broken jaw from being crushed and had to have it wired up.Then sadly, 6 months later the snake finally had his fluffy kitten dinner after all, just before going into hibernation.. You need to be a smart fluffy thing to survive here in the forest. We have one cat who is 13 yrs old and very smart..Lola sadly wasn't !

Smart but Scattered: The Revolutionary "Executive Skills" Approach to Helping Kids Reach Their Potential
There’s nothing more frustrating than watching your bright, talented son or daughter struggle with everyday tasks like finishing homework, putting away toys, or following instructions at school. Your “smart but scattered” child might also have trouble coping with disappointment or managing anger. Drs. Peg Dawson and Richard Guare have great news: there’s a lot you can do to help.

The latest research in child development shows that many kids who have the brain and heart to succeed lack or lag behind in crucial “executive skills”--the fundamental habits of mind required for getting organized, staying focused, and controlling impulses and emotions. Learn easy-to-follow steps to identify your child’s strengths and weaknesses, use activities and techniques proven to boost specific skills, and problem-solve daily routines. Small changes can add up to big improvements--this empowering book shows how.
