The Late Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati
The Late Riverfront Stadium in Cincinnati
Cincinnati's Riverfront Stadium (aka Cinergy Field 1996-2002) began construction in 1968 and was completed in 1970. The stadium was home to the Cincinnati Reds National League baseball team and the Cincinnati Bengals National Football League team. The circular, "cookie-cutter" design of the facility is almost identical to stadiums in Atlanta, San Diego, Philadelphia, Washington DC, St, Louis, New York, and Pittsburgh; all built in roughly the same time-period. The facility was ceremoniously imploded on December 29th, 2002. Unfortunately, the city's decision-makers (and numb-skull voters) chose to replace hulking eyesore with two, brand-new, single-use riverfront stadiums; costing taxpayers nearly a billion dollars (not-including financing or the lost economic and social value of the centrally-located, waterfront real-estate. The property located between the two corporate vanity palaces is planned to become a mixed-used "neighborhood" known as "The Banks." Thanks to stimulus funding; the first of several proposed phases of the Banks project, finally broke ground in late 2009... ...after a decade of false-starts.

100/365 Say it again, that's 100 days
What more to say? I made it to 100 days - I'm quite shocked. To celebrate, made a bunch of cookies. Well, to be honest, I went out and hired some number shaped cake tins then realised I don't want to eat three full size cakes. So, after a spot of DIY, I went in search of number cookie cutters and found a wee tiny set in Fenwicks (nice one Fenwicks) and a gingerbread person cooker. Biscuits and icing followed without too much stress. I invited some of the Lego folk who've made the last couple of months a blast - props to Cap'n Bob, reunited with his hat for one night only, and my newest ally, the Lego papparazzi. Couldn't go without mentioning Patrick Starfish, who has possibly the best Lego expression ever. Roll on the next 265 days! Stobist: One light wonder, 430EXII to camera left, weeny teeny reflector to camera right to cut them shadows. Biscuit.
