There are two cluster agencies that are here to help you plug into teaching activities and service opportunities.

The Cluster Institute Coordinators (CIC) coordinate the creation and carrying out of Ruhi groups and Children and Jr. Youth Classes in our Cluster NC-08, which includes the communities of Oakland, Berkeley, Emeryville, Alameda, San Leandro, Piedmont, Albany, El Cerrito, Kensington, Richmond, San Pablo, El Sobrante, Pinole and Hercules. If you are interested in joining a Ruhi class, starting your own or becoming a tutor, or if your interested in assisting or starting your own Children's Class or Junior Youth Group please contact:

Denise Banister amiawakeyet@hotmail.com Cluster Institute Coordinator (Study Circles)
Melissa Hobbs melma39@yahoo.com Children's Class Coordinator
Farid Hajj ffaridd9@yahoo.com Junior Youth Group Coordinator

The Area Teaching Committee (ATC) coordinates the quarterly cluster reflection gatherings, as well as, teaching campaigns which often consist of direct teaching in neighborhoods with the Introduction to the Baha'i Faith Presentation, AKA Anna's Presentation from Ruhi Book 6. The area teaching committee is a great resource to plug into for teaching projects, devotionals and home visits. If your interested in starting one of these activities or joining an activity currently going on, please contact:

There are several neighborhood children's classes and junior youth groups in and around Oakland that could use your help. Wether you can help on a regular basis, play an instrument for the kids, or bring food one day all assistance is greatly appreciated by the hard working volunteers providing regular service at these various locations.

With Cynthia teaching the children's classes and Denise working every other saturday we have immediate needs for volunteers. about 15-20 lunches a week - funds are available to pay for the food.

Alameda Children's Classes and Junior Youth Group

Thursdays from about 4:15 pm - 5:45 pm on a grassy area at the Esperanza complex in West Alameda.  It is a group of 6-7 kids (depending on the week).  There is a steady core of 4 girls ages about 7 - 14.  The Junior Youth group is making a movie about how to help "bad kids" want to become "good kids".  They also want to do monthly fieldtrips. We've shared some of Anna's Presentation and the kids plan to make fliers to invite others to join the group.  The younger kids work in a group nearby - one week they helped make the scenery for the movie, and this past week they did a Ruhi 3 lesson.  Farid has been so helpful in working with the little ones.  And Zeeba and Nika have been helping with the Jr. Youth.

Siu Akuila and George Halaholo have been hard at work every Saturday from 10am-2pm, going into East Oakland neighborhoods presenting the Introduction to the Baha’I Faith (Anna’s Presentation) and meeting a wide variety of neighbors, largely in the Tongan community. They have gathered many contacts and are in the process of doing home visits, but need your help. Whether your familiar with Anna’s Presentation or not doesn’t matter, just a love for the teachings of the Faith and your presence would make all the difference. There is also a need for children’s class teachers and Junior Youth animators. To help out call Siu Akuila, Cell: 510-987-6920 or contact George Halaholo at cell: 510-331-9678, hm: 925-258-9754 or email: halaholo@sbcglobal.net.
