Registration and accommodation

Important announcement, 1 February 2011

The University of Birmingham has informed us that the number of rooms allocated to us has been reduced due to a change of policy. We still have our full allocation of ensuite single rooms, plus a number of twin rooms which are available to those who are prepared to share.  Those sharing rooms will be offered a reduced rate, while ensuite rooms will now be offered at the standard rate - new registration forms can be downloaded below. People who would like to share a room should email the BACS office (canstuds@gmail.com) to inform us, but we will be contacting everyone who has booked at student rates. Anyone who has paid at the old rate will receive a refund for the difference.

The British Association for Canadian Studies looks forward to welcoming you to its 36th annual conference at the University of Birmingham. The campus is 2 miles from the city centre, in landscaped grounds, with its own railway station linking it directly to Birmingham New Street Station; Birmingham International Airport has direct flights from Canada, the US and Europe and the city is easily reached by rail from London or by coach from the other major airports. See maps and directions for further information on getting to Birmingham.

Conference accommodation will be in a choice of single en-suite rooms (Option 1), or twin ensuite rooms (student rate), a short walk from the Business School, where sessions will take place. You can save money by choosing one of the "packages" (Options 1 and 2) or register for the days you wish to attend. Day delegates are welcome!

Registration forms for the conference, in sterling and Canadian dollars, can be downloaded below. Please return the completed form to the address below as soon as possible. We regret that we are unable to accept direct payment by credit card but you may pay by direct bank transfer (sender to pay bank charges) or by PayPal. To use PayPal (which is now available to non-PayPal account holders) please email your registration form to the BACS Office (email canstuds@gmail.com) to request an invoice. Finally, please note that dollar cheques made out to sterling are not accepted by British banks and will be returned.

Please return the completed form to: BACS Conference, c/o 2 Ancroft Southmoor, Berwick-upon-Tweed TD15 2TD, UK. The deadline for registration is 5 March 2011, after which there will be a late booking fee of 15% of the total. If you have not registered by 15 March 2011 it will be assumed that you will not be attending. No refunds for cancellation will be possible after 5 March.
