1987 Schwinn World Sport
This is the latest version of my bike. It's a 1987 Schwinn World Sport. I'm pretty attatched to the frame, otherwise it wouldn't be worth upgrading to this extent. I put some Serfas Tuono slicks on a set of Xero CXR-330's with a Shimano 9 spd cassette, powered by a SRAM double crankset on a GXP bb. Changed out the rear der. with a Shimano Deore XT 9 spd. To stop I got some Tectro long reach breaks, ans some Cane Creek Crosstop levers. Swapped the Shimano down tube indexed shifters for some Shimano Tiagra shifters. It has Origin 8, Ergo flat top drop bars, quill to threadless adapter, and seat. Because I use it to commute to work every day, I added a set of Planet bike fenders decked out with a custom reflecto-tape job. I needed an extemely short stem, so I found this 40mm Hussefelt Truvative MTB stem. The only other thing I can think of is the SPD pedals, and the Delta rear rack to mount my Banjo Bros waterproof panniers. I don't even want to think about how much I've spent on this bike, but I'd guess around $800. Like I said, I'm pretty fond of this frame. It was my first road bike, it fits me very well, and it's well built. I figure I can transfer everything over if I find a nicer frame.

i just installed a 42 cm ritchey zed on the front of my schwinn 'cross bike. even though it adds a certain measure of comfort and control on high speed, washboarded fire roads, one must still pay attention to what one is doing or else one shall end up ass-over-ankles in the weeds. the rear rubber is an anemic 28 or 30 cm schwalbe that came installed with the bike out of the showroom. the light system is an ancient niterider dual beam classic which i have not used on a hard core night ride in more than a year but still serves as a reliable commuter light.
