Grand Spider Orchid
Caladenia huegelii. Conservation status: Declared Rare Flora - Endangered. Now critically endangered, this species is one of the largest West Australian spider orchids. Wholesale clearance of it's habitat for suburban housing has put the continued existence of this species on a knife's edge. This photo was taken back in 2005 with my old film SLR and has lost a little definition in the translation from print to digital image. Undisclosed location, Perth, September 2005.
