As Logan has grown he has out grown the website.  Sad to say but he is no longer a baby.  Please follow the link below to see more of Logan as he continues to grow.

It has been too long since our last update. A lot has been going on in the past month and a half to tell you about. First, Jim and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on July 6th. We got to have the day and overnight to ourselves thanks to Granny K who stayed with Logan and Sean. We spent the day up in Bellingham playing frisbee golf at Cornwall Park, drinking Big Mama margaritas at Jalapenos, and relaxing in our hotel room at the Bellwether. It was a lot of fun to get to spend some quality time together.

The biggest change that has happened is that I have gone back to work part time with Walkers Carpet One in Bellingham. It's the same place I was working before I had Logan. Instead of residential sales, I will be working with property management and construction companies which allows for a more leniant schedule. Logan is being watched by a friend who also has a one year old, so he is getting some good social interaction. While I miss Logan terribly on the days that I work, I think it is good for the both of us.

Sean finished his freshman year at Mount Vernon High School with a bang. He got 6 A's and 2 B's which earned him a 3.7 GPA, his highest EVER!!! He is also still in Tae Kwon Do where he has earned his low blue belt and will be testing soon for his high blue belt. After that there are 2 red belts then the black belts. He really enjoys the sport and plans to continue on with it.

Here are some pictures over the past month...

Frisbee golfing with Papa Gene, Uncle Dave and Aunt Jenny when they came for a visit in early June.

After we were done frisbee golfing, we played at the playground.

Hang on Logan!

Jim and I started going on weekly hikes with Russ and Heather. Logan loves to be in the pack.

Squires Lake is one of our favorite places to hike.

Logan enjoying some yogurt.

Logan wearing Daddy's socks over his jammies. He doesn't look impressed, but Mama thought it was funny.

Logan turned 1 on the 22nd. HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY LOGAN!!!! We celebrated today with family and friends by hosting a bar-b-que at our house. In total we had just over 40 guests come to help Logan celebrate his big milestone. Logan was in good spirits all day. We lucked out with excellent weather. All in all it was a wonderful day and a great party. Thank you to all who came. It was great to be able to share in this occasion with you. Thank you also to all those who couldn't make it, but sent their good wishes.

The little party people: Top- Logan (1 yr) and Avery (14 mths). Bottom- Ollie (10 mths) and Olivia (9 mths)

As you can imagine the previous picture was hard to get because 4 babies quickly turn into this!

The cake - thank you Auntie Erin

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you!

Our one mishap of the day - Logan touches the candle :(

Luckily the cake had been stored in the refrigerator so the icing was nice and cold which made for a quick recovery

Logan opened a few presents before getting a much needed nap

Later, after a nap and the guests had gone home, Logan gets some quality time with his new toys! Thank you all for the wonderful gifts!

This weekend Western Men's Crew held their annual alumni day out at the boathouse on Lake Whatcom. Of course we went and took Logan. It was a blast to see everyone again, to meet the current rowers and older generations of alumni, and to just provide support to the team in general.

Logan is 11 months old today - HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOGAN!!! I can't believe we will be celebrating his first birthday in a month. The 11 month mark has brought a lot of changes with it including one major change. I have a lot to share since his update from a week ago so I'm going to tell you about each event and then show those pictures before I move on to the next one. Hang on to you hats 'cuz here we go...

Kisses - Logan has started giving kisses. If you ask him for a kiss he opens his mouth like a baby birdie and plants one on you. What a sweet little boy!

First Haircut- Logan got his first haircut. His hair was getting pretty shaggy so Jim talked me into getting it cut. I had been putting it off because I liked his shaggy baby do and knew getting it trimmed up would make him look more like a little boy and less like a baby. Well, bye bye baby!

Getting started (Could he look any more betrayed?)

During (Maybe this wasn't such a good idea)

After (I guess it was worth it)

Street Fair - After surviving the trauma of his first haircut we visited the Mount Vernon street fair where Logan got to stop and smell the tulips.

Snow on April 20th?!? - Can you believe that the day after we hit the street fair we woke up to huge snowflakes falling and 4-5 inches already accumulated on the ground? What else can you do but take Logan for his first time sledding?

Papa Gene and Sean built a snowman

Swimming - The next day it was time for swim class. Logan and I have been going to a water babies class for several months now. He loves the water. We sing songs as we splash, kick, float, jump and zoom the babies around the pool. Logan "jumps" into the pool from the side (he leans forward while sitting on his bottom until he falls in and I catch him) and also goes underwater.

About ready to "jump"

Jumping in

A Toddler Already - That's right! Today while at the mommy group we go to, Logan decide that it was time he started walking. For several weeks he has been pulling himself up onto things and then letting go. Sometimes he can balance for a bit before he falls and other times he falls onto his bottom right away. Either way he pulls himself back up and does it all over again. Today he was standing there balancing and just started to walk. It started with about 4 steps and he worked up to 8-10 steps. It will still take a lot of practice before he is truly steady, but there's no going back now!

Determined to get to the book bin

I made it!

Logan's methods of mobility...

He loves walking with his walker

"What do you want? Can't you see I'm trying to walk here?"

I was originally trying to get a picture of his lovely bed-head, but this picture does a good job showing how Logan has managed to get around without actually having to crawl. He starts in a sitting position then he uses his hands and his right leg to propel himself forward. He then drags his left leg behind him and back into a sitting position. Quite ingenious if you ask me. :)

A picture of the silly smile that I can't get enough of

Last month Logan and I spent quite a bit of time in Spokane. We went over just before St. Patrick's Day and ended up staying through Easter and then some. We hadn't planned to stay that long but Jim got the flu right before we were supposed to come back and I didn't want Logan catching it so we extended our stay. The intention of the trip was so that Logan could spend some quality time with Papa Gene and Grandma Saundra, but what I didn't expect was how the change of environment seemed to stimulate him. His curiosity about his new surroundings opened him up to all kinds of new things. He found his first body part - his belly button. If you ask him, "Where's your belly button?", he will point to it. He started playing peek-a-boo. If you say, "Where's Logan?", he covers his face with his hands and then uncovers it. He started to really tune into the sounds you make and then tried to mimic them. I was showing him a baby doll and was saying ba ba baby. He responded, "Be ba." He started cruising and since our trip has been using the baby walker. It was just amazing how rapidly he was learning.

Apparently he was bored with eating

Another new favorite past time - making waves

BUSTED!!  Caught getting into Papa's stuff

Where's Logan?

I think I see him...

PEEK - A - BOO!! (Not the greatest picture, but you get the idea)

Still not crawling and proud of it!

On the other hand, it would be easier to get around.

Cruising to get his favorite toy turtle - I see it!

I want it!

I'm gonna get it!

I got it!
