Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine the flour, oats, baking soda and salt; gradually add to creamed mixture and mix well. Stir in Grape-Nuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 3 in. apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Flatten slightly with a fork dipped in flour. Bake at 350° for 9-12 minutes or until lightly browned. I wasn't sure whether to post the pictures I took of these. After all, these aren't exactly on the "food pyramid"... but I assure you, they are food. Mostly. These are [drum roll, please] "Deep Fried Oreos". Tasty? Sure. But one bite is enough to jump-start your sugar buzz. There is virtually no redeeming quality to these, in a nutritional sense. In fact, these would qualify as "nutritional nonsense".
