Author Katherine Steel takes us along for a delightful breezy family romp following the death of 'the loved one' -- it's "Valley of the Dolls" meets "The Addams Family" -- and nobody emerges from the wreckage and carnage unscathed!

"Trust Me", by Katherine Steel, is hilarious, as she is informative, a must read for Baby Boomers.  Take a wild Mr. Toad's Wild Ride and meet Ms. Steel's dysfunctional
family.  Along the way, treachery awaits in the shark-infested waters of predatory lawyers and scheming relatives.  Ms. Steel has practical advice (coming from THIS
experience) in negotiating these murky waters.  Clearly Ms. Steel has sampled the
same Kool Aid as Hunter S. Thompson!  I highly recommend this book!

This review is from: Trust Me: Every Baby Boomer's Nightmare (Paperback)
"Trust Me", by Katherine Steel is a very important and informative read for anyone dealing with aging parents, or ANY family matter involving finances. I just wish it had been available to read before my aunt's caretaker embezzled every cent she had, ran up her credit cards, sold all her valuables and took out a loan on her house, which was paid off 30 years ago! My aunt is 95 years old and almost blind, and this woman took everything she had and then skipped town! The vultures are definitely out there, and they come in the form of people we think we can trust. I'm honest, so it never occurred to me to question the integrity of a woman who possessed the credentials this woman had. Lawyers, caretakers, neighbors, "friends"- people you want to believe are on your side- people you think are looking after your family- well, read this book and find out how they just might be predators, just waiting for the opportunity to take everything you and your loved ones have! Do it now, so you won't have to regret not knowing, like I do.
5.0 out of 5 stars A modern day gothic horror, July 24, 2013
This review is from: Trust Me: Every Baby Boomer's Nightmare (Paperback)
Trust Me should resonate with boomers in this all-too-common situation - aging and/or dying parents, dysfunctional heirs, unethical players and confusion about the estate. Steel's personal saga may be an extreme example, but there are practical lessons to be learned for millions of boomers in similar circumstances (like me). Kudos to her for writing it all down! If not for the fact this is based on actual events, one would think they were reading a gothic horror novel.

An Illusion (Moscow, Russia) -"Trust Me: Every Baby Boomer's Nightmare" is one of those books you can't put down ,valuable not only for the practical advice about dealing with an inheritance but also for its fascinating analysis of the dynamics of dysfunctional families. As Tolstoy once said "All happy families resemble one another but each unhappy family is unhappy in its own way". If you have the misfortune to belong to such a family this book gives you the moral support to help you understand and cope with your relatives from hell. I love the cover art too!

5.0 out of 5 stars Trust me, if you care about your family, this is a must read for young and old!, July 4, 2013
This review is from: Trust Me: Every Baby Boomer's Nightmare (Paperback)
This easy to read guide is a must for young and old. I found it very helpful and even entertaining on about a topic I really didn't care to face. After reading Trust me I am now ready to tackle this issue while I'm still healthy so our family can have a reasonable discussion on how best to 'settle our affairs.
Trust me, this book will be the best gift I give my family and friends this year!
