    color schemes
  • In color theory, a color scheme is the choice of colors used in design for a range of media. For example, the use of a white background with black text is an example of a basic and commonly default color scheme in web design.
  • An arrangement or combination of colors, esp. as used in interior decoration
  • (color scheme) a planned combination of colors; "the color scheme for this room was determined by an interior decorator"
  • (Color Scheme) Scanners read barcodes by using red light to recognize the contrast between the bars and spaces of the symbol. Colors that will scan effectively need to be chosen. Black bars against a white background are the safest choice, but other combinations will also work.

This photo gives a good idea of our color scheme, which was inspired by the Denyse Schmidt "Katie Jump Rope" fabric that I chose for the curtains. We matched the paint color ("Cloudless" by Sherwin-Williams) to the blue dots in the fabric, and I bought small pieces of other blue and green fabrics to make up the quilt. Many of the same fabrics are used in the bird mobile above the crib. The crib is from the Baby Mod "Park Lane" collection (sold at Wal-Mart).

Blank slate: Painted the space with Natura paint. The trim on the window was sort of a default color, based on what cans of paint we had left over from the rest of our place .... that wasn't blue. Because I cannot abide having a baby nursery for a baby boy with baby-blue trim. But grey! It goes with everything, including the red, black, and white color scheme we're working on.
