Best baby or learn to knit book EVER!
Best baby or learn to knit book EVER!
I taught myself to knit from this book. It is really comprehensive and really is for beginners. Everything you need to know about choosing yarn, starting a project, shaping, etc is very clearly illustrated within. If you already know how to knit, the book is still worth it's weight in gold with lots o basic but beautifully finished and executed patterns for baby from hats and socks to sweaters and cardigans. A must have for any beginning knitter. Debbie Bliss is a genius! The book is titled "Baby knits for beginners" by Debbie Bliss and was published by Ebury Press (Random House) 2003.
baby hat - for madeline
baby hat - for madeline
Seems that I can't knit enough these days. This hat is for a sweet little newborn we're happy to welcome. This hat is based on the “simple hat” pattern in Baby Knits for Beginners by Debbie Bliss. Instead of straight needles, I used double pointed needles and knit in the round. I used Patons Grace yarn - a nice thin 100% cotton.

The Knitting Experience Book 1: The Knit Stitch, Inspiration & Instruction
This primer uses clear, step-by-step instructions to teach the basics of knitting. Beginners will learn to master the techniques that are needed before starting a project and learn which choices result in successful garments. A natural progression of skills is taught, and each skill is punctuated by a knitting project, enabling first-time knitters to create simple scarves and sweaters. Patterns are presented in an accessible format, with text, photographs, and line drawings to offer advice, anticipate difficulties, and provide rescue techniques.
