I'd Really Like to Eat a Child (Picture Book)
A scrawny little crocodile wants the opportunity to bite off more than he can chew. He's tired of bananas; today he'd like to eat a child. But he's smaller than he thinks, and the little girl he chooses for his first meal puts him in his place—she picks him up and tickles his tummy! The little crocodile is going to have to eat a lot of bananas and grow a lot bigger before he can add children to his menu! Simple yet hilarious artwork brings this droll story to life.

Oh, growing up is so hard! There's so much you want and so much you can't do yet. Little Achilles is a crocodile who decides one morning that he's grown beyond his diet of bananas. "Today, I’d really like to eat a child," he tells his mother. She reasons with him: "What an idea!...Well, children don't grow on banana trees, only bananas do, and that's what I have for breakfast!" But Achilles won't be swayed, not even by sausage or cake. And when he happens upon a girl child by the river, it looks like his culinary dream might come true...
French author-illustrator team Sylviane Donnio and Dorothee de Monfreid have perfectly captured the hubris of childhood in this droll story. Young Achilles is so darn cute, and so sure of himself, readers will fall instantly in love. And the encounter with the girl at the river bank is priceless. --Emilie Coulter

6~8 Months Baby Food Menu
6~8 Months Baby Food Menu
Since my little prince has turned 6months yesterday, I would like to share with readers about my baby new food menu. This is a general guideline with solid baby foods that are age appropriate. I read few websites and magazines to do simple research on baby food. After compared one to others, this is what I got... CEREALS - Continue with Rice, Barley, Oat FRUITS - Apricots, Avocados, Nectarines, Peaches, Plums, Prunes, Pumpkin, Mangos VEGGIES - Carrots* , Peas, Yellow Squash, Zucchini, Parsnips (8 months) PROTEIN - Chicken, Turkey, Tofu *8 Months for Meats/Protein or when your pediatrician says it's ok* DAIRY - Plain -Whole Milk Yogurt (NOT whole milk for a drink!) * 8 months or when your pediatrician says it's ok Most of the time, Rafiqh will show more interest on myLove and my food instead of his. It is normal for a child, he loves to imitate his parents, so he would like to eat what myLove and I eat... (Kadang2 masa tengah feed him and at the same time myLove tengah makan, dia boleh terjenguk2 pinggan ayahnya, hahaha, aparaa)... But, for me, I never gave him what I ate. Yeah I admit, sometime kasihan tengok muka dia, with great expression "oh mama, your foods look so yummy!!!", hahaha... Sorry dear, I'm not mommy yang, alaa suap sikit saja tak apa. Even bila tetamu datang and he did the same expression(muka kasihan minta makan) till they asked for my permission to feed him sikit aje pun, I said NO, please don't, wow, strict giler! For those babies who refuse to eat their foods and they prefer parents' foods, with creativity, create a special menu/adult-look menu to the babies, for example- no need to bland it to smooth structure, just softly mashed or chopped into fine pieces. We can also put their foods on our plate and pretend like they are having ours. Maybe?? However, for me, I have no problem to feed Rafiqh. He prefers blanded foods, fast and easy to swallow. (Rafiqh makan memang laju, macam shinkansen(bullet train),haha. Kalau lambat je,tangan dia sibuk mencapai sudu dan pinggan, nak suap sendiri konon)... So, to ensure there is no choking risks, I always bland the foods well... And to encourage Rafiqh to love his foods, I will eat them together with him... Picture above, no.2 - banana+prune puree... no. 3 - kurma, kismis dan prune. I dah start bagi kurma a month ago. Kismis dan prune baru je introduced. Ketiga2nya adalah dried fruits so structure agak keras, I bland betul2 halus sebelum suap Rafiqh. Untuk mudahkan ianya hancur, rendam dalam air suam 2-3jam sebelum bland... Kalau nak bagi bubur+kismis, I will cook both together. Starting with this month, I will introduced Rafiqh to fruit juices. Yeay, satu lagi kerja tambahan mama, haha... Kadang2 sembang dengan my friends/mom/whoever, mereka tanya tentang apa Rafiqh makan, I told them Rafiqh cuma makan home-made foods, terkejut diorang. Banyak2 baby food di pasaran, I choose my own menu, hehe. So, please, don't ask me about baby foods in market, I have no idea at all... In fact, myLove and I selalu lalu depan rak baby foods, baru sekali kitorang singgah untuk tengok2, bukan nak beli tapi check out new recipes yang mungkin boleh apply untuk Rafiqh, hehehe...

1. Breastmilk My target is to breastfeed my baby until he is 2 years old. Dari apa yang I baca, baby boleh diberi freshmilk bila usianya mencecah 1 tahun. So now, just ensure I have enough milk to feed him, when he reaches 1 year, boleh la top up dengan freshmilk, I prefer freshmilk more than formulamilk. Why? ermmm no specific reason. 2. Solid food Started solid food at 4 and half months of age. Yeah, quite early due to few reasons. But yet I believed no harm to start solids early since my baby is ready cause studies show that babies are highly individual in developing a readiness for solid foods. One baby might seem to be ready for solids at 4 months, while another shows no signs of readiness until around 6 or 7 months. So no need to compare with others. The most important thing is to offer him only those foods that are appropriate for his age. I always refer to Solid Food Feeding Stages based on his age range to guide me what kind of foods is ok for my baby. 3. Homemade Teething Biscuits Recipes I am totally teruja untuk buat homemade teething biscuit. Tapi bila surf untuk cari resepi2, I agak kecewa to find out that almost all the ingredients contain salt, sugar, egg and etc. Alamak, nak kena tunggu Rafiqh 1 tahun dulu laa baru boleh buat all these biscuits/cookies. Sebenarnya I nak buat sekarang sebab fikirkan senang nak bawa keluar jalan2, so nanti waktu we all makan, Rafiqh ada something to play with. Tukar2 setiap hari. Lagi seminggu Rafiqh dah 6bulan, so lepas ni baby mama akan tambah menu baru lagi laa... Enjoy your foods baby! Ramai yang kata, tak susah nak jadi ibu. Just believed on mother instinct. But for me, no matter what I do, I must prepare myself with knowledge. Actually there are many forbidden foods that baby should not eat until he has reached a certain age. For example, the common forbidden foods are sugar, salt, honey, citrus/acidic fruits/vegetables, strawberry, corn, whole milk, egg whites, wheat, grapes, chocolate, shellfish, nuts, peanut butter and many more. Some should be waited until he is 1 year and some till he is 2 years old. Selain itu, ibu perlu ada ilmu on how to handle sick baby. Apa nak buat bila suddenly baby demam panas and etc. Tambahan pula kalau kat Japan ni, klinik bukan buka 24hours, kalau emergency boleh laa refer klinik/hospital, setakat sikit2 tu kena laa handle sendiri. For me, penting untuk ada kelengkapan ringkas perubatan such as termometer, ubat-ubatan dll. Menyedari hakikat ini, I know there are sooo many things that I need and must learn...
