Grandmother Remembers a Written Heirloom for My Grandchild
Twenty years and 1.6 million copies later, this beautiful keepsake book is still a beloved family treasure. This charming album offers an appealing and accessible means for grandmothers to record family history, important events, and favorite anecdotes for their grandchildren. The lovingly illustrated four-color pages include places to write down favorite recipes, unforgettable family celebrations and traditions, and other memories that every grandmother loves to pass down. Inspirational poems and intriguing questions invite grandmothers to share fascinating facts about their lives, including stories about childhood, marriage, their own children, and their perceptions of life today. Although this is a grandmothers' book, there are pages for grandfathers to record their thoughts, too. A wonderful family heirloom, Grandmother Remembers is as lovely and relevant today as it was when it was first published twenty years ago.

My Poor Baby
My Poor Baby
Liberty had a bad dew-claw accident tonight. Thank Goodness they saved her dew-claw, but it came as close to an amputation as it could have. It could still have to be amputated if it does not heal properly. For this reason, they medicated her pretty severely to keep her off of it. She is not doing well on the narcotics and Belle is just beside herself as she has no idea what to do to help her little sister. Liberty has already soiled herself on the sofa and the bed (and in my car on the drive home). I don't care about that, it is just so hard to see my baby like this. She is actually crying. I know she will be okay, but she just has no idea what is happening, she is so drugged up. Please, my Flickr friends, I know this is not that bad an injury, but please pray that she can rest peacefully tonight. I am not leaving her side the next 24 hours, so I guess no moon for me tonight... and tonight would have completed my project! As long as my baby gets better and has a decent night, I don't care about my moon project. For anybody who will say a prayer for her, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. :) At the hospital, I met a cat named Oscar, and his entire human family. He has a very bad problem and was being treated as Liberty and I left. Even through their tough time they found the time to help me with Liberty while I filled out paper work. They kept my Libbers safe while I turned my attention to the front desk. It might not sound like much, but these were good folk who helped me out more than they will know. I promised to say a prayer for their Oscar. I am asking you to do the same, please pray for Oscar the cat. I do believe in the power of prayer, and the more voices God hears, well, you know... Thank You my Flickr Friends!
Gorilla Baby
Gorilla Baby
The 6 month old Gorilla with it's mother at the National Zoo. I love the babies facial expression in this shot. Today was a great day to photograph the Gorilla family. They were outside and the mother was waiting for the keepers to bring their snack. The keepers arrived a little late, around 12:00pm. One of the biggest things to know about taking photos of animals at zoos is knowing when they are fed. If you really like a certain animal and you want to get a great photo, i would suggest you find out the feeding schedule. If you want to see the baby Gorilla for yourself, i really recommend coming to the zoo at 10:00am and going straight to the Gorilla's indoor house. The keepers will close one side of the Gorilla's indoor exhibit in order to clean and place food around. The Gorillas will be in a seperate room, watching the keepers to see where they put their favorite food. At this time, when the keepers are in the exhibit (no they do not get in with the gorillas ever) the Gorillas start to become very active, including the mother, and she will often come up to the glass with the baby to get out of the way of Baraka, the silver back Gorilla who likes to display before getting his food.
