Mission Statement

Our on-going mission is to provide funds for the advancement of music for Bayfield music students

Music programs in our schools are expensive and at risk with ever-shrinking budgets. Here are some examples of expenses not always covered

by current District budgets:

  • Sheet music $100 per piece
  • instrument repair $50-$300 per instrument
  • travel to competitions, including buses, food, and lodging

It is BAAM's mission to provide financial support for these needs as well as volunteer help for events.

Pine Cone Third Thursdays

Starting Thursday 5/19 will be Third Thursdays at The Pine Cone from 4:00 to close! Every third Thursday of the month will be BAAM night. We'd like to encourage all BAAM parents, grandparents, students, and other supporters to come out to The Pine Cone for dinner or a treat. A portion of the proceeds will go to BAAM.

This should be an easy way to earn some donations for BAAM, which then goes to support our music students, and it can also be a nice way to get to know one another. The students say that Band is like family to them, so it could be fun for parents to get to meet some of this extended family!

We hope to see you there!

Bayfield High School hosts IML Honor Band

Bayfield High School will be hosting the annual IML Honor Band this year.  Students hand-picked by their directors from about a half dozen schools in the Intermountain League will come to BHS the morning of Wednesday, November 12th.  They will practice their music together for the first time that morning as a group and will continue to rehearse the entire day.

That night they will perform a concert in our new Performing Arts Center.

Mark your calendars for 6:00 Wednesday, November 12th.  We look forward to seeing you there, supporting our talented high school musicians in the Intermountain League.

AmeriGas Fund Raiser a Success!

AmeriGas hosted their annual Customer Appreciation Days on Saturday, September 20th, donating all proceeds to the BHS band.  The jazz band and pep band performed, and band members helped work concessions.  They served 700 soft drinks, 300 bags of chips, 200 bags of cookies, 200 hot dogs, and 350 brats….WOW!! The total funds raised that day was $2965.  That's a HUGE thank you to AmeriGas!

BHS band performs at more than just football games

The BHS band has a history of performing at more than just football games.  The band does not travel with the football team to away games, and there has been a long stretch between the first home game (August 29th) and the 2nd home game (October 3rd).  The band has stayed busy performing pep band music at a boys soccer game, a cross country meet, and at a girls volley ball game.  My personal favorite is the cross country meet... no stadium stands, just performing in the woods!

Desert Sun Coffee Fundraiser

Don't forget to buy some amazing Desert Sun coffee from
your favorite band and/or choir student! Band students have already received their order forms; choir students will get theirs the first day of school. Orders are due Thursday 8/28 (second Thurs of school), the coffee will be roasted in Durango that weekend, and we'll have it ready to deliver the following week. Coffee is $12 for a 12 oz. bag, and you can choose from Southwest Morning Blend, Dark Canyon French Roast, or Decaf Mountain Blend. You can also choose whole bean or ground coffee.
