Testing Calendar

SPRING 2019 AZMERIT AND AIMS TESTING DATES: APRIL 1st-12th, 2019.
AzMERIT Grade level and End of Course testing:
The AzMERIT is a state REQUIRED computer-based test which provides engaging questions and measures critical thinking skills for college and career readiness. These test must be proctored in person so please find the dates in your geographic area from the attached document below.  Specific details regarding the testing days, time and locations will be provided at least 6 weeks prior to the first day of testing.

AzMERIT is aligned to Arizona’s state learning standards which detail what students should be able to do at each grade level. The test is designed to measure student learning and progress towards readiness for college or career. Think of this test like an annual checkup- an important opportunity to find out how your child is performing in reading, writing and math.

There are two main computer versions of the AzMERIT testing:  Grade level and End of Course testing. AzMERIT testing goes beyond multiple choice questions and provides a better indicator of what students have learned during the school year.

  1.  AzMERIT Grade level testing: (Required testing completed in person on computers at approved testing centers across the state).  This is a mandatory test from the Arizona Department of Education for all students in Grade 3-8.  Students will complete testing in Writing, Reading, and Math.  Grade level students taking high school level classes will ONLY need to participate in either their grade level class OR the high school end of course assessment.
  2. AzMERIT End of Course testing: . (Required testing completed in person on computers at approved testing centers across the state).  This is a mandatory test from the Arizona Department of Education for any student in a class that requires an end of course test.  Students will take AzMERIT End-of-Course (EOC) tests in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math that will test their proficiency in these subjects. This are given at the end of their courses similar to final exams.  Classes that will require EOC testing include: 9th, 10th or 11th grade English, Algebra I, Geometry, and Algebra II. A passing score on AzMERIT is not required for graduation and will not impact GPA's at this time.
AIMS Science Testing:
This state REQUIRED testing is for students in 4th, 8th and 10th grade (and some 9th grade students taking Biology)  This test will be provided during the same week as testing for the Spring AzMERIT assessment (See calendar or attached file below). This test must be proctored in person so please find the dates in your geographic area from the attached document below.  Specific details regarding the testing days, time and locations will be provided at least 6 weeks prior to the first day of testing.
