Parent and Student Testing Information 2017-2018


  

This site is a vehicle of communication regarding required state and district testing here at Arizona Virtual Academy and Insight Academy of Arizona.  Here you will find testing calendars and details regarding the testing.  In a virtual setting we use testing just as any other school would:  to monitor student achievement as well as to highlight any areas of need.   There are several tests that are considered mandatory testing for our students. They include the following:


STATE Required testing: STUDENTS WHO DO NOT TAKE REQUIRED STATE TESTING WILL BE WITHDRAWN FROM AZVA OR ISAZ.
  • AzMERIT Grade level testing  (Required testing completed in person on computers at approved testing centers across the state).  This is a mandatory test from the Arizona Department of Education for all students in Grade 3-8.  Students will complete testing in English Language Arts (ELA), a three part test; Writing, and two Reading parts, and a two part Math test. Testing will be provided at approved testing centers across the state in SPRING 2018.  You will receive more detailed testing information regarding your child(ren)’s assigned testing location at a later date. ALL students in a public or charter school are expected to participate.   

  • AzMERIT End of Course testing  (Required testing completed in person on computers at approved testing centers across the state).  This is a mandatory test from the Arizona Department of Education for any student in a class that requires this End of Course test.  Students in the final semester (or B version) of the following classes; 9th, 10th or 11th grade English classes, Algebra 1, Geometry, and Algebra 2 are expected to participate in this required test.  Testing will be held twice during this school year at approved testing centers across the state.  You will receive more detailed testing information regarding your child(ren)’s assigned testing location at a later date. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE FALL TESTING DATES: NOVEMBER 6,7,8,9, 2017.  

  •  AIMS Science (Required paper based testing completed in person at approved testing centers across the state) This is a Standards Based Assessment that measures student proficiency of the Arizona Academic Content Standard in Science. It meets federal requirements for student assessment. It is administered in the Spring 2018 to students in Grades 4th, 8th, and 10th grade students (also 9th grade students taking Biology can complete, and is a mandatory test required by the state of Arizona for any student in a public or charter school. You will receive more detailed testing information regarding testing centers for this mandatory state test at a later date.  

  • High School Civics Test (Required computer based test completed during the school year at home) This is a state requirements starting with the class of 2017 that all students pass a civics test based on the United States Immigration and Naturalization civics questions. Students are required to score 60% or higher in order to graduate from high school or obtain a high school equivalency certificate. DISTRICT Required testing:

AZVA Elementary School (Grades K-5th grade)
Galileo (Required computer based test completed at home).  This is benchmark mandatory testing that will be given throughout the school year with specific testing windows for students in Kindergarten-5th grade

AZVA Middle School (Grades 6-8th grade)
USA Test Prep (Required computer test completed at home).  This test is taken by students at their home in the fall (or when a student starts at our schools) & again in the spring. This is mandatory testing for all AZVA students in 6th - 8th grade. 

AZVA High School (Grades 9th-12th)
USA Test Prep (Required computer test completed at home).  This test is taken by students at their home in the fall (or when a student starts at our schools) & again in the spring. This is mandatory testing for all AZVA High School students.

Insight Academy of Arizona (7th - 12th grade students)
USA Test Prep (Required computer test completed at home).  This test is taken by students at their home in the fall (or when a student starts at our schools) & again in the spring. This is mandatory testing for all Insight Academy of Arizona students.

Included on this site you will find the dates for testing for the 2017-18 school year, as defined by the Arizona Department of Education. Please be sure to review those dates for your student’s grade level to determine the required testing dates for this school year and make sure to SAVE THOSE DATES
