Silent Saturdays Oct. 22 & 29

Region 180 will be holding 2 Silent Saturdays on Oct. 22 and Oct. 29. Our objective is to allow our players to play their games free of direction and interference from coaches and spectators, to permit players to communicate amongst themselves and to make their own decisions in games. Other benefits are the removal of criticism of referees, eliminate sideline dissension, educate parents, and improve coaching.

Parents, please participate. Speak quietly if at all. Avoid any comments that could be heard by players from either team or the referees. We ask that you respect our efforts. When a goal is scored please cheer and applaud. But otherwise the sidelines should be silent.

Thank you for your cooperation.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States (other than skin cancer); but millions of women are surviving the disease thanks in part to early detection and improvements in treatment.

AYSO Region 180, Let's Pink Together!
Saturday October 15th and 22nd

Show your support, wear your best pink!
Players must still wear their game jersey's and shorts,
but are welcome to wear pink socks, arm bands,
head bands, hair ties, shoelaces, etc.

Shin Guard Safety

As a reminder, ALL players must wear shin guards for all practices and games. We - parents, coaches, and referees - need to ensure that players are wearing appropriately sized shin guards in the correct position to provide a reasonable degree of protection to reduce the risk of injury. The correct position for a shin guard is low on the shin with the bottom edge of the shin guard less than two inches above the player's shoes/cleats. For more information on proper shin guards and how to wear them please read this document - Shin Guard Safety.

Volunteer Points

Coaches - Volunteer points have been posted. Please check your progress and report any issues to the Volunteer Points Coordinator at aysosyv.volunteerpoints@gmail.com. Click here to view your status.

No Pets at the Fields

Please remember that Region 180 and all volunteers want everyone to be safe. We have a No Pet Policy at the fields which will be enforced. Please leave your furry friends at home as all pets can be unpredictable, especially when surrounded by a lot of people. If you arrive at the fields with your pet you will be asked to take him/her home. Thank you.

Saturday Volunteers Needed

It takes a lot to get ready for a full day of soccer every Saturday. Please offer some time to help out with morning setup, afternoon hospitality, or afternoon clean up. Sign up using our Volunteer Sign Up Form.

  • U19 Girls take 4th Place at National Games!
We are very proud and excited to report that the Santa Ynez Girls U19 team brought home the 4th place medal from the National AYSO Games in Florida this summer. Not too shabby for a team that is half U16 players that were playing against second year college players! Every player exhausted themselves and left everything they had on the field. Region 180 was also honored for the best sportsmanship in U19 girls division. For this honor, our region number and team name will be engraved on a permanent AYSO National Games trophy. I couldn't be more proud of this group of girls from the Santa Ynez Valley that represented our community so well. They have made lasting friendships from players all over the country. We send a sincere THANK YOU to everyone in our community that made this possible. And a special THANK YOU to Coaches Jim Watts and Matt Donahue!
