Referees are an important part of the AYSO soccer program. Volunteer referees provide high-quality games and share their knowledge of the laws of soccer with players, coaches, and spectators. Knowledge of the laws of soccer help players develop their game. With the help of coaches and parents, referees make the AYSO experience safe, fair, and fun.
AYSO provides training and equipment for all levels of referees, from the very beginner to nationally certified trainers and assessors. AYSO’s referee training is considered some of the best in the U.S. and includes both in-person courses in your community and online opportunities. Soccer knowledge is a plus, but is certainly not required. The AYSO referee training will give you all you need to know to have a terrific experience on the field.
