The requirements for lining the soccer fields varies by the age division. Attached to this web page are instructions on how to line the fields for the U06, U08, U10, U12 and U14 and above divisions. Please read the entire instructions.
For U08 and above, there is a diagram (two diagrams for U12 and U14) and step-by-step instructions. Due to the size of the fields, one half of the field will be done first, then the second half.
Lining takes at least two tape measures, at least four stakes (up to 10 would be better), string, and at least one lining machine. The required length of the tape measures depends on the age division. For the U08 field, you will need one to be at least 107 feet and the other at least 75 feet. For the U10 field, you will need one to be at least 170 feet and the other at least 120 feet. For the U12 field, you will need one to be at least 213 feet and the other at least 150 feet. And for the U14 and above division, you will need one to be at least 310 feet and the other at least 200 feet.
When movable goals are being used for games, in addition to the steps documented in the attached instructions, it is also necessary to paint two hash marks along the end line (goal line) as to where the goals should be placed.
There are four files attached to this page: one with the instructions for the U06 field, one with the instructions for the U08 and U10 fields (pages 1-2 are for the U10 field, page 3 is for the U08 field), one with the instructions for the U12 field, and one with the instructions for the U14 field. The U14 field is used for the U14 and above divisions.
