-- Our Mission Statement

AYSO Region 1422 is located in Laguna Hills, California and serves the communities of Laguna Hills and adjoining areas in South Orange County.  As part of the American Youth Soccer Organization, our mission is to provide quality youth soccer programs which promote a fun, family environment based on AYSO's Six Philosophies. The Region is for children ages 4 through 19 (U5 –U19) and is a part of AYSO Area 11-L (South Orange County), and of AYSO Section 11 (Southern California).  AYSO Region 1422 is a non-profit, all-volunteer organization.

Following are a few of the benefits of playing AYSO Soccer in Region 1422:

  • Emphasis on player and child development
  • Play on the best fields in Laguna Hills
  • No referee fees
  • Professional goal keeper training at no additional cost
  • Fall, Spring and Extra programs

AYSO's Six Philosophies:

  • Everyone Plays
Our program’s goal is for kids to play soccer—so we mandate that every player on every team must play at least half of every game.
  • Balanced Teams
Each year we form new teams as evenly balanced as possible—because it is fair and more fun when teams of equal ability play.
  • Open Registration
Our program is open to all children between 4 and 19 years of age who want to register and play soccer. Interest and enthusiasm are the only criteria for playing.
  • Positive Coaching
Encouragement of player effort provides for greater enjoyment by the players and ultimately leads to better-skilled and better-motivated players.
  • Good Sportsmanship
We strive to create a positive environment based on mutual respect rather than a win-at-all-costs attitude, and our program is designed to instill good sportsmanship in every facet of AYSO.
  • Player Development
We believe that all players should be able to develop their soccer skills and knowledge to the best of their abilities, both individually and as members of a team, in order to maximize their enjoyment of the game.

-- Policies and Procedures

AYSO 1422 follows the Policies and Procedures of AYSO Area 11L (and AYSO National Guidelines) with the following exceptions:

-- Games

Games will be played on Saturday’s beginning in September through the middle of November.  Should your child be on the Regional Champ’s team (U10-U14), they will continue to play at the Area and Sectional level through December and possibly into January.  Games may be scheduled as early as 8:00 AM on Saturday and will run all day until dark.  If your child is on an older team (U14 and above) they will have some Sunday games.  This is done to make sure we are finished with our season before the deadline for high school and CIF so our children can do both AYSO and high school soccer.  Games will be scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday during play-off’s so we can determine the Regional winners to send on to Area play (mid to late November).   Games will be played at our local elementary schools, and Community Center.

-- Practices

Practices are held during the week at our local parks, elementary schools, the Community Center, and the high school.  Times will vary depending on availability and number of teams.

-- General Information for each Division

-- FAQ's

1. What's the Board doing?
Shortly following the last registration date, your board begins the process of putting the teams together for the upcoming season. When this is completed, the uniforms will be ordered and the coaches will be notified.

2. When do the coaches get their teams?
Coaches should expect to receive their team rosters in Early August, at the coaches meeting.

3. When do the players get called?
Teams may begin practice on or after August 15. The coaches will call the players usually from early to mid August. They will give you all the information you will need in regards to practice times and location. Each coach sets his/her own practice days, time and location and usually calls for a team meeting before the first practice. The practice fields are located throughout our community.

4. It’s after August 15 and my child has not been called. What do I do?
Please do not panic if you see teams practicing and your child has not been called. Not all teams begin practice at the same time. The very young teams, in particular, do not always begin practice on August 15. Also some coaches may be out of town. If your child has not been called by August 22, please email your Division Manager for your division.

5. What else does my child need?
The registration fee includes: complete uniform (jersey, shorts, and socks), supplemental accident insurance, and team and individual pictures.

In addition, players are required to wear shin-guards at all practices and games. You may also need to obtain shoes (preferably soccer cleats), a soccer ball (size depends on age) and a water bottle.

6. How often are practices and games?
Practices are held twice a week (field and times to be determined by your child’s coach). Games will be on Saturdays with the first game on the first weekend after school starts. Games and practices will be held on fields in Laguna Hills.

Please Remember…
AYSO is a parent-based all volunteer organization established to provide a positive experience for our children. Go to the games. Learn the rules. Above all, be tolerant of the children’s coaches and referees mistakes and weaknesses. Volunteer and get involved!
