Ayaskant Rath

Ayaskant Rath is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Polytechnic Institute of New York University, and his advisor is Prof. Shivendra Panwar. He received his M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Polytechnic Institute of New York University and his B.Tech. (Hons.) in Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur.

As a research scholar, he has been actively involved in research in various areas related to communication networks, including design of robust P2P VoIP and VoD systems in resource rich walled garden networks, cross-layer scheduling in wireless ad-hoc networks, etc. His current research is focused on improving efficiency of next generation cellular networks involving small cells by offloading macrocell traffic to femtocells to conserve macrocell backhaul bandwidth, by making handover processes more quicker for fast moving users, among others.
