Deer, Deer Me...
Deer, Deer Me...
Or perhaps a more arcane title "The Doe Boys" (Maybe one need be old like me to "get" that one...but it's hell trying to be clever). Regardless, yet another series of deer images. In any event, the young bucks that I last saw outside my dining room window returned and graced my yard for a while casually dining while being constantly vigilant as to what I, perched on my deck, might be doing. Not nearly as skittish as the does and their fawns for obvious reasons. One of those opportunities a quality camera and tripod would have served well. I took over 50 shots and, frankly, tired of the reviewing. Thus you are left with these, this specifically the only one in which I was able to get both...the other's head barely visible in the upper left hand corner. Hopefully you are not tiring of these deer images, but it is a joy every time I see them...and these conveniently in the yard. I've run into a few other critters on my walks lately, including a black bear which i watched amble across my path while my camera cleverly remained firmly implanted in the palm of my hand and a weasel (as surprised as I) which vanished, seemingly into nowhere, moments after we noticed each other. As they say, "Pop!..." Clearly, a lesson in preparedness is in order.

1/400" f/5.6 300mm ISO 400 I was driving through a neighborhood near my house when I saw a deer right next to the road so I stopped and quickly fumbled around to get my new Sigma 70-300 lens on the camera. I took a few shots and was kind of disappointed at what I reviewed. Then a guy pulled up next to me, flashed me his binoculars and said that there were three dear at the house around the corner just hanging out eating bushes. I quickly headed that way and saw all three of these guys eating at three different bushes. They didn't really pay much attention to me so I got out of the car and started walking towards them... when the mother noticed me she started to walk right at me and then turned her body like this. That's when I took the shot.
