Axet is a breakout ball game similar to the old C64 Crillion game. The goal of the game is to clear all colored blocks in a level using a constantly moving ball. To destroy a block, the ball has to touch it with the right color. The color can be changed using specific blocks distributed around the level. At the same time, the ball must avoid the dangerous death blocks. What makes the game tricky is that the ball is constantly moving up and down and the player only gets to control its horizontal direction. In higher levels, movable blocks require strategic thinking, as it is well possible to block up the way to important resources (hit F1 to restart a level). There are special blocks that give additional lives and other surprises. Time remaining at the end of a level is awarded as bonus points. Every 3000 points you get an additional life. Axet features 50 levels and a two-player mode. In two-player mode, two balls controlled by either player can be used to clear the levels simultaneously. While this brings some advantage, you must be careful near death blocks, as the two balls bounce off each other. Lives gained by one player can be given to the second player, if this one is in need of it.
Axet used to be shareware, but now the full version is distributed as freeware. It includes a training mode for individually training higher levels. Axet runs perfectly with DOSBox.
