AWM established the Emmy Noether Lectures in 1980 to honor women who have made fundamental and sustained contributions to the mathematical sciences. In April 2013 the lecture was renamed AWM-AMS Noether Lecture and starting 2015 will be jointly sponsored by AWM and AMS. These one-hour expository lectures are presented at the Joint Mathematics Meetings each January. Emmy Noether was one of the great mathematicians of her time, someone who worked and struggled for what she loved and believed in. Her life and work remain a tremendous inspiration.
The letter of nomination should include a one page outline of the nominee's contribution to mathematics, giving four of her most important papers and other relevant information. The selection committee will take into account nominations for a three-year period after they are received; the committee may seek out and consider other excellent candidates.
Nomination materials for this award should be compiled into 1 PDF file and submitted online at MathPrograms.Org. The submission link will be available 45 days prior to the deadline: https://www.mathprograms.org/db/programs/470.
