AWM Policy Statements and Endorsements

AWM is a member of the Coalition for National Science Funding (CNSF) and has been one of the signatures on letters to Congress addressing significant issues that affect federal funding for the sciences. More information concerning CNSF, as well as recent CNSF congressional letters AWM has signed, can be found on their website here.

AWM Hill Visits

AWM has launched a Hill initiative consisting of regular AWM trips to congressional offices. These visits provide AWM members opportunities to advocate for causes and legislation affecting women in the mathematical sciences and, at the same time, make Congress aware of AWM as a valuable resource. The AWM hill visits have noticeable impact; as a result of these trips, a number of congressional offices have reached out to the AWM for endorsement and advice concerning bills that impact women in STEM. This is also a great activity for AWM student chapters. If you wish to volunteer for a Hill visit or find out how to involve members of an AWM student chapter, please contact the AWM policy and advocacy committee or the AWM executive director. For more information, please see an overview of the AWM Hill visits in the article in the AWM July-August 2016 newsletter, AWM's one-page legislative priorities document, and Hill visits basics, a how-to document for meeting with  with members of Congress and their staff.
