In order to qualify for membership in Avon High School's Chapter of the National Honor Society, students must:
Have and maintain a 4.0 GPA on a weighted scale.
If a student has a 4.0 GPA or higher, they will be invited to apply for membership during the Junior year based upon attainment of the minimum GPA at the end of the first semester (applications are typically distributed the last week in February). Letters of invitation and applications will be distributed to students that meet the criteria by the Avon Faculty Council. Only those who receive applications may apply; however, if all of the criteria are met and a student does not receive an application, please contact Mrs. Coleman at jlcoleman@avon-schools.org by March 5th .
Fill out the application and return it on time.
To participate in NHS, students must:
Attend at least 5 meetings for the year
Complete a minimum of 30 service hours between May 30, 2025 and April 10, 2026
Pay dues in the amount of $45 that covers national membership fees and pin, cords for graduation, and an NHS t-shirt (waivers may be received based upon need).
If students complete the requirements, they receive cords at our Induction Ceremony in May that are worn at graduation. If the requirements are not met by April 10, 2026 at midnight, students do not receive honor cords.
