WHY

Maori in New Zealand, Maohi in French Polynesia and Maoli in Hawaii make up the bulk of an estimated one million people sharing Polynesian heritage.

Yet, not one organisation exists to unite the people of all Polynesia. Lack of unity shows in language loss, high rates of crime and corruption, along with unsustainable exploitation of physical resources.

Regional responses to such issues must find a way to address historical calls for Polynesian unity.
