GG-1 # 921, has had a full modification with the installation of new air inlet fliters placed on both sides of the upper noses, the removal of the original air intakes, and new recessed service steps added along the sides. All the GG-1 fleet received the single shoe on the pantograph and the twin sealed beam headlights as far as I know. You can really see the ripples in the body skin of the locomotive from all the patch repair jobs and modifications performed over the years.

Two former New Haven Railroad 4400 series washboard MU commuter cars in Metro North Railroad service are heading eastward from the Stamford, Connecticut station, August 1982. The washboard cars will eventually end up in the electric MU car storage yard. If you notice the photo is displaying only old equipment on all tracks and this scene could have been taken many years earlier, but one of the give aways is a small section of welded rail being shown. Also, of interest is the catenary repair train sitting across the tracks by the other set of washboard MU cars. Thsi right of way and mainline was previously the property of the New Haven Railroad.
